Baculite Specimen - CGSS14

Baculite section from the Bearpaw Formation of Southern Alberta. Gold, green and orange run across the top, with deep red and burgundy through the lower half and fine crackle detail throughout.

Photographed on an acrylic display stand.

Baculites were straight-shelled relatives of the coiled ammonites. Their ammolite tends to form in broad plates divided by the shell's suture lines, which gives baculite pieces their patchwork look.

One of a kind.
