Baculite Specimen - CGSS15

Baculite section from the Bearpaw Formation of Southern Alberta, mostly deep red and burgundy with a green and gold sheen along the top edge.

Photographed on an acrylic display stand.

Baculites were straight-shelled relatives of the coiled ammonites. Their ammolite tends to form in broad plates divided by the shell's suture lines, which gives baculite pieces their patchwork look.

One of a kind.
