A large, double-sided outer whorl of Placenticeras costatum from the Bearpaw Formation of Southern Alberta. Its unusual elongated form almost gives it the look of a baculite, which makes it a particularly distinctive display piece.
The fossil is covered in gem-grade Blue Zone ammolite with a vivid rainbow of green, blue, gold, orange and red. It has been professionally restored and stabilized, then finished with a durable 2K clear coat to help protect the ammolite from UV exposure, scratches and handling.
